How to Find the Perfect Bathing Suit for Your Body Type
With the official start of summer just around the corner, it's time to start thinking about finding the perfect bathing suit for when we all get to go back to the beach or chill by the pool. While I know most of us look forward to the summer months, I also know that most of us dread the thought of shopping for suits. We beat ourselves up for not starting that 'bikini body' diet in time, and we decide the best option is to cover up on the beach and promise that next year we'll definitely have our bikini body ready. Well, forget the 'bikini body' diet, and forget about covering up! It doesn't matter what size or shape you are, there are stylish options that will work for you, you just have to know what to look for!
Big Boobs - If you've been blessed in the boob department then you'll want to avoid string bikinis at all costs. When buying a bikini you need to shop by bra sizes, not the general small, medium, large sizing system. A bra type top with an underwire will give you the support and shape that you need, so you don't have to worry about anything popping out when taking a dip in the pool.
Small Boobs - If you haven't been so blessed in the boob department, then you can easily create the illusion of a larger chest with tops that have ruffles or embellishments. Padded tops in bikinis or one-piece suits will also do the trick.
Large Derriere - If you have a little extra 'junk in the trunk' then you'll want to find a suit that provides enough coverage. Brazilian and string bottoms can be very uncomfortable and you'll spend all day adjusting yourself, so go for full coverage bottoms. A great way to balance out your bum is to go for bathing suits that are a solid colour on the bottom with printed tops.
Flat Derriere - Ruching and frills are your friend and will create the illusion of a curvy behind. Avoid full coverage bottoms and choose bright coloured and patterned bottoms.
Large Hips - Opt for plain solid colours on the bottom and draw attention upwards by using frills, patterns, and bold colours up top. A full-coverage bottom will work best.
Tummy troubles - If you're unhappy with your tummy area then a one-piece suit with a high cut leg or deep v-neck is a great option as it has a slimming effect and creates a great silhouette. If you're looking for a two-piece then go for a high-waisted bottom that covers the belly button. There are also some amazing bikinis that have built-in support panels for those troublesome tummies.
Full Thighs - You'll definitely want to go for more coverage and avoid Brazilian or string styles. A boy short bottom is a perfect option or a bottom with skirting to create balance.
Short Legs - It's actually easy to create the illusion of longer legs in a bathing suit! Choose a high-cut leg or a string style bottom. Yes, it's that simple!
Short Torso - To add length to the torso then choose halter neck tops and lower cut tops. This look is the perfect way to elongate your body.
Here's to a super stylish (and sunny) summer!
